A Little Bit Country

We’ve been back in our apartment for about a month now and I have been in full redesign-mode ever since. There’s something about having been away all summer that has made the apartment feel a bit stale and I’ve been itching to switch things up. It’s all a bit in flux right now (we finally got dining chairs yesterday after two weeks of being without and eating on the floor) and I’ve honestly felt a bit tired/uninspired/not sure how to make the best of the little things that drive me crazy about the small space. But I’m scouring Pinterest and interior design books to remedy that and I think I’ve finally got some vision. First up, the girls’ room. We’ve got three girly girls on our hands — they love all things floral, pink, princess, fancy, fluffy, foofy, you get the idea. I want to make sure that their room is a space they’re excited about and that they have some ownership of what it looks like, while also being as cohesive with the rest of the apartment as possible (this is critical in such a small space in my opinion, if all of the rooms feel “connected” I think it makes it feel larger?

Much to my own surprise, I’ve been drawn to a sort of French country cottage vibe for their room as I’ve been perusing Pinterest. I want their room to feel feminine, cozy, lived in, not too precious but still really special and considered. The frills and the patterns just feel so cozy and fun, and what should a kids’ room be after all if not fun? I just picked up this pendant that I plan to hang this week, and we’re on the hunt for a triple bunk for their room to open things up a bit in there. Stay tuned. xx
