Emerald Lake House

we had the pleasure of heading out to lake arrowhead for the first time a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the haven that is emerald lake house (only about 1.5 hours from LA!) i've drooled over this lake house for years now (you might recognize it as the former Jenni Kayne lake house) and it was even more idyllic that I expected.

the house is absolutely stunning. it's bright, airy, cozy, luxurious, and the views are absolutely insane - the living room window might be my favorite part of the entire house. we lucked out with sunny weather all weekend and couldn't get enough of the views of the lake through that window.

the kitchen is fully stocked, the living room cabinet is filled with games and puzzles, and the room that the girls stayed in even had a few kids' books and toys in the closet (not sure who was happier about this - the girls or the parents!). everything we could've possibly needed for a long weekend was there and ready to go, which was so nice. all we had to do was order groceries (and a pizza from Loueddie's).

we stayed at the house over Father's Day weekend and made the most of the huge dining table (with another huge window and gorgeous view of the lake) and the grill out on the patio. we made a big brunch spread on Father's Day morning and enjoyed steak frites at golden hour (our favorite family meal), which was such a treat.

when we weren't oohing and ahhing about the house (and conspiring about how to move in), we were hanging out on the dock. we couldn't get over how beautiful the lake was - cool and clear and the perfect temperature for a refreshing swim. we spent the afternoons packing up the picnic basket and taking snacks down to the dock, the girls climbed rocks and hunted for treasures and bugs amongst the pine trees, and we all soaked up all the sunshine we could. the nature that surrounds the house is absolutely beautiful.

I think the morning light in the house actually revived me from the effects of June gloom here in LA. I woke up before everyone the last morning we were there, made myself a cup of coffee, and just soaked in the sunrise and the silence. the way the light poured into the house in the mornings was divine.

we had the most special time together as a family at ELH -- it was the perfect place to slow down, rest, play, explore, share meals together. definitely made some core memories here and it's high on the list of places to visit again. suffice it to say you should add it to yours, too. xx
